Wakefield Youth Percussion Ensemble

Wakefield Youth Percussion Ensemble was formed to further develop players’ skills and confidence and to allow pupils to explore a wide range of percussion instruments in a variety of styles. Over the years, the ensemble has taken part in numerous concerts including the National Music for Youth Festival.

In September 2013 the group had a rebirth with new director Rhodri Younger and twelve new members. They have worked exceptionally well to form good relationships and and their exciting performances received high praise from the musical community! The ensemble recently performed in the Music For Youth festival in Birmingham and have just been invited to perform at the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in November!

The group rehearses at Manygates Music Centre on Wednesdays evenings from 4.45pm till 6.15pm.

Entry to the group is by teacher invite/audition. If you are interesting in joining then please speak to your instrumental teacher or contact the music office.
