Most instrumental lessons take place at the child’s school during the school day. This may mean that your child has to miss part of a school lesson. Much research has been done on this, none of which has shown any detrimental effect on children’s academic progress. Many experts believe that learning a musical instrument improves performance in other areas of the curriculum. The many and varied rewards of music making are sufficient justification in themselves. A limited number of lessons are available at some schools during lunch breaks and at the end of the school day. Wherever possible in high schools, WMS staff will try to teach pupils on a rota basis to avoid missing the same class every week.
Some lessons can be taught centrally at Manygates Music Centre on an evening depending on availability.
