The training orchestra is designed for pupils who are between Grade 2 and Grade 4 standard and who are interested in developing their ensemble playing. The orchestra is led by the director of Wakefield Youth Orchestra, Mr Nick Meredith, with specialist music teachers on hand to help!
The rehearsals include lots of musical ensemble activities to help develop group playing and listening skills and the repertoire is accessible and not too demanding! Many members later move into Wakefield Youth Orchestra.
Rehearsals are currently being held in term time at Wakefield Girls High School between 4.30pm and 5.30pm. It is anticipated that the Orchestra will move back to it’s usual home at Manygates on Friday later this year.
